I was feeling flu-achy yesterday morning and even stayed home from church.

It was the day we'd planned to get our Christmas tree and decorate everything for Christmas.

Though I've never not participated in the actual picking out of the tree, dreading going out in the frosty air was enough to change my mind. "You guys go ahead."

Jeff sent me pix messages with pictures of various tree choices, and so even though I wasn't there, I still got my say, lol.

Ahhh, the wonders of technology.

The other day after my trip to Costco, ahem, someone smuggled a Nonni's chocolate decadence biscotti into the guest/craft room and ate it by the computer.

Judah wandered in and was talking to me by the computer. He saw the wrapper and looked at me accusingly, "Wha???"

Then he frowned and said, "Wet me smeow yo bweff!"

So busted.

Ever wondered how to keep a rambunctious tot from getting into trouble when mom is sick and wants nothing more than to curl up under a down comforter with a good book and not have to worry about anything but getting better, but can't because her hubby and older son have to be at church?

First, you gather up a bunch of toys and books that the kid enjoys. You put them on your bed or sofa, and then call the child in.

As he nears said sofa or bed, you yell out with absolute fear in your voice, "Watch out for the SHARKS* !" and you will see that kid scramble as though his life depended on it to take refuge on the 'boat' where you can 'pwoteck' him.

If they dare throw a leg overboard, you simply yell, "The sharks are gonna get you!"

They will sit and close and enjoy the books and toys for much, much longer than usual.

Not that we've employed this technique around here or anything, but we've heard it works like a charm, lol.

*Wolves, bears, lions, dinosaurs, snakes and hot lava also work well, but there is something about Sharks that really stirs the imagination. Or so I've heard.

I certainly hope you're feeling better!

We have to watch out for crocodiles around here.

my kids are always asking, "What's in your mouf?" That's when I chew quickly and answer honestly, "Nothing!"

That Judah is pretty shrewd for one so young, yet to be taken in by the fear of sharks, you naughty mommy, you! But I DO understand, TOTALLY, the need, the desperate NEED to rest when one is unwell or impossibly tired and has a little one to keep out of, well, EVERYTHING. You probably could have taken a full length nap if only you'd handed over your makeup bag to him!

Hilarious!!! I laughed my head off! That little stinker! So he's taking you to task, eh? Yeah, C notices EVERYTHING I eat. (And everything I do, and everything everone does--she's got eyes, ears and nose on high alert all the time), and takes offense that I keep my own personal supply of "Mammas ONLY" energy bars under my bed. These are my necessary sustenance, don't you know, so I can be flexible and ready at a moment's notice to run off for an early morning walk with a friend, or to grab for a car trip where there may not be anything edible for a long time....For my blood sugar levels, you know. OK, OK, so I like the chocolate mint ones!!!! But I can have my own stuff! I'm the mom!
And sharks--good one! I wonder that I never thought of that one! I think I would've sent your little busybody to church and let Daddy deal with him! He he he!

That is pretty funny. I don't see that working on my daughter, but my son would totally go for it. In theory. Hope you feel better!

Fear is so underrated as a parenting tool, I'm afraid. ;)

Also, maybe Judah has a future as a CSI, what with all that breath smelling and clue capturing...Better be careful around him.

I remember the sharks!! I'd stay on my bed because I didn't dare put my foot on the floor. LOL. Yes, that DOES work.

Yes, technology is wonderful. Not only pix messages for you to "have your say" about trees, but I've observed shoppers talking on cellphones doing comparison shopping with their caller/speaker who was most likely at another store looking at the same thing. At least, that's my gist of it.

That Judah is a smart boy! Asking to smell your breath--that cracks me up!

I hope you are feeling better, Becky!
P.S. I sneak candy too!

I'm playing catch up today! As usual, you make me laugh! Right out loud, too. None of this quiet snickering.

So how long did Judah's minty-fresh breath last?

D.O.G. is adorable!!! I know someone who knows someone with a dog named Deeohgee. That's how they spell it. lol

I like the closet, the floors and molding!! I look forward to the pictures...

Breathtaking sunrise.

Love the potty training post. Every.single.word!

Almond Roca! Yum!! Great pyramid, too. :o)

Hope you're feeling better. Sharks. Whatever works, I say.
